TENSILE TESTING

SPECIMENS, FASTENERS, TUBING, REBAR, WELDS & CASTINGS

The Tensile Testing of Metals is a destructive testing method that provides crucial information about the material's tensile strength, yield strength, and ductility. Zhejiang Guojian Testing Technology Co., Ltd (CCT) , based in China, conducts the tensile test according to industry standards and specifications, including the ASTM tensile test methods. This procedure is commonly referred to as a tension test or a tensile strength test.

TENSILE TEST CAPABILITIES

Zhejiang Guojian Testing Technology Co., Ltd (CCT) provides a comprehensive range of tensile testing services for metal materials. Our state-of-the-art equipment allows us to test specimens of all sizes, ranging from small fasteners to large tubing and bolts. In addition, we offer elevated temperature tensile testing up to 1100℃.

In industries such as aerospace, materials are often required to perform in extreme low or cryogenic temperatures. To address this need, we offer cryogenic tensile testing on round and flat specimens, evaluating material properties under liquid nitrogen cooling (LN2) to -60℃.

To ensure reliability and rapid turnaround times, we prepare all types of tensile test specimens to specification in our own Machine Shop. We also offer specimens for direct purchase by customers. A certified test report, including complete test results, is provided with each order.

THE TENSILE TEST PROCESS

The tensile or tension test method is used for material strength testing, where an increasing load is applied to a test sample until it fails. During the test, a stress/strain curve is generated, which indicates how the material reacts under tension. The data obtained from the tensile test is critical in determining the mechanical properties of materials, including the following quantitative measurements:

· Tensile strength, also known as UZhejiang Guojian Testing Technology Co., Ltd (CCT) mate Tensile Strength (UTS), is the maximum tensile stress carried by the specimen, defined as the maximum load divided by the original cross-sectional area of the test sample.

· Yield strength is the stress at which time permanent (plastic) deformation or yielding is observed to begin.

· Ductility measurements are typically elongation, defined as the strain at, or after, the point of fracture, and reduction of area after the fracture of the test sample.

The tensile test is conducted using a tensile or universal testing machine equipped with top and bottom grips that securely hold the test sample. The grips move apart at a constant rate, pulling and stretching the specimen while the force and displacement are continuously monitored and plotted on a stress-strain curve until the specimen fails.

The technician calculates the tensile strength, yield strength, and ductility of the material after the specimen breaks. To determine elongation, the broken specimen is put back together, and its final length is compared to the original length. The reduction in area is calculated by comparing the original cross-sectional area to the final cross-sectional area.

Elevated temperature tensile testing is used to evaluate the behavior of materials under heat and tension. The specimen is placed inside a furnace on a test carousel that can process up to three specimens at a time. Our computer-controlled system heats the specimen to the desired temperature, allows it to soak, and then loads it into the test frame. An extensometer is used to measure the strain on the specimen as the load increases.
